Hello!  I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the arrival of Abby's love quilt.  It came between her last cycle of chemotherapy and before the beginning of radiation.  Abby was absolutely thrilled and I know it made her feel really special.  Here are is a photo of Abby with her quilt.  Thank you again...she loves it!

Best Wishes,
Ann and Abby

Abby J.'s Story
Written by Abby's mom Ann in February 2009

Abby Qian was born on 5-20-06 in the Henan Province of the People's Republic of China.  She was born with a small eye and her birthparents were unable to care for her.  She came to live in an orphanage at 5 months of age.  Besides having a small eye and general childhood illnesses, Abby's health and development were normal.  In June 2008, our family (Kevin, Ann, 6-year-old daughter, Jenna, and Ann's father, Bob) went to China and adopted Abby Qian.  She's made a fabulous adjustment to our family and is a delightful little girl, full of smiles and zeal for life.  Abby's small eye was causing her discomfort so it was removed on 12-3-08.  Despite having normal MRI's and other exams, the surgeon removed a cancerous mass called a Retinoblastoma.  Abby had a prosthetic eye placed and has adjusted really well to it.  She is currently undergoing 4 cycles of aggressive chemotherapy to be followed by 5 weeks of proton beam radiation.  It's a big journey for a little girl, but Abby remains full of life and eager to experience everything!
