Allison D.'s Story
Written by Allison's mom in July 2008

Allison Hope was born on May 4th 2007. Allison's due date was July 2007. Allison came in the 7th month she was 2 pounds 14 inch long at birth. It did not look good for our baby, family one by one started to come see the baby in the NICU, many prayers was going out for Allison and we trust God to heal her. Each day while in the NICU we had to take it one day at a time. Allison had to get blood every day to help her fight. Allison kept geting infections about 1 month after her birth we found out that Allison was bleeding in her brain they ran some test and found out Allison had what is called Hydrocephalus and was told once Allison got strong, before they allowed her to come home, she will need to have a shunt for the rest of her life. With out this shunt Allison would not live. Until then she would have taps in the brain to drain the fuild and blood off her brain.

Allison grew an infection and the doctors gave us the news that the baby would not make it. We did not accept what the doctors was telling us at all. We did not want to hear that our baby might die. We trusted in GOD for Him to heal her and touch her and keep her with us, prayer worked Allison only became strong.

In July Allison got her shunt in and was able to leave the NICU on July 19th 2007 she came home we could now all be a family. The plan was for mommy to go back to work in August and have Aunt April be her full time caregiver but those plans had to be put on hold, the shunt failed Allison and she had to have a another one put in and the old one taken out. Again this shunt would also fail Allison so a 3rd one had to be put in to place. Mommy went back to work in September and Aunt April started to become Allisons full time caregiver.

Since 2008 started we found out that Allison on top of having the hydro, she has a very mild form of Cerebral palsy. On top of that we found out she also has stigmatism in both of her eyes. Today Allison is 1 year old. She tries her best to lift up on her hands. She has rolled from tummy to back but has yet to crawl, this is very hard for her to do she has sat up once in her car seat but even that is not so good. God has touched our baby and we know GOD can heal her so that one day she might be able to walk and run and play we trust GOD for this.

Allison can talk and say words such as mama, dada, baba and Apebow (for April her Aunt). Allison brings tones of joy each day in her smile and big blue eyes, she is our Miracle from the Lord. We never know what each day may hold with Allison. When she was younger sometimes just to hold her she would cry for hours, she was in pain. We been blessed that since after her 1st birthday she hasnt been in pain like that but we never know if that might come back or not. All we can do is take one day at a time and trust GOD has Allison our Miracle in his hands. Thanks and God Bless.
