Illness: Brain Cancer not match ANY current brain cancer classifications, is the strangest looking Cancer his doctor has ever seen.  It has characteristics of 4 high-grade tumors (means hard to treat). But it will probably get a new classification of it's own.

Armstrong P.'s Story
Written by Armstrong's dad Richard in April 2009

My son Armstrong was born on May 8th, 2005 and had been a boy full of energy and life. I was overseas and my wife was working when my son had flu like symptoms and had a seizure at our babysitter's house. He was unresponsive so 911 was called and he was flown to Creighton before being moved to Children's Hospital in Omaha.  It was confirmed he had tumors in his brain on November 20, 2008.

Armstrong had three tumors in his head and he has had three surgeries on them. He has also completed radiation and the first round of chemo. He can not walk and has to be carried to where he needs to go, unless he is in his stroller or wheelchair. Armstrong is doing well with his brothers and sister that help him and we hope that with spring, he will want to go outside more for walks, even if he is in his stroller.

On Thursday April 9th Army went to physical therapy. We went up to the oncology department after PT, had them do some blood work but they said he was fine. Told us to increase his steroids and that would help.

The rest of our day was pretty uneventful. But one thing I do remember was that Army got to have McDonald's that day! We were at the hospital until about 1:30 and as we left we just decided that Army needed himself some chicken nuggets :)

Around 10:15pm I layed Army on a couple pillows on the floor so we could change him. Rik helped but Army seemed to be getting a headache laying down so we 'schootched' over to his chair. Daddy picked him up and sat him in the chair and within seconds he was having a seizure. We called 911 and our wonderful police chief was at our house in less than 2 minutes! Army was pale and having a hard time breathing. They gave every medicine, tried everything they could. Then the doctor said they had given him everything they had. and he just wasn't responding to any of it.  So at 11:27pm our little baby boy passed away.
