Brian M.'s Story

Brian was born in Fort Wayne Indiana on June 26th, 1997 while his daddy was on a 2 year assignment with GM. In June 1998 we moved back to our home in Akron, Oh.
Brian has always been a very active boy. He was walking at 9 months and he has been running and climbing on everything ever since. When we moved to Rootstown, Oh in 2000 he met some of his best friends and they love to play together. He especially loves his sky fort in the back yard that his daddy and papa built last summer.
Brian was in the 1st grade at St. Patrick school in Kent, Oh when he started having headaches. That would have been April of 2005, I thought he had a virus that lasted a few days. Then in May the same thing happened, headaches followed by him getting sick. This time it was so bad that I took him to Children's hospital Medical Center of Akron. Within an hour or so a CT scan was done and I got the devastating news that my son had a brain tumor.
The next days were a blur. He was admitted and had brain surgery to remove the tumor on May 18th. The diagnosis followed. It was Glioblastoma Multiforme, a very aggressive tumor that is rare in children. I couldn't believe that my son had this. The tumor has already started growing back. We have now started chemotherapy at home. he takes 6 chemo pills every morning for 42 days straight. He will also be starting radiation within the next week. We have faith that the Lord will heal him and that the tumor will be killed. He has a long road ahead of him. We pray for his strength and return to good health everyday.

Brian passed away on April 3, 2006. Below is the family's journal entry. He will be sadly missed!!
At 8:10 PM tonight Brian became an angel and went home to be with his Heavenly Father. I take comfort in knowing he is now happy, healthy and Cancer Free! That is all he ever wished for. It was very peaceful after a difficult day of struggling to breathe. He was anointed this morning and we were all home when he passed. Mark was with him in the room. Afterwards, his sister Allie noticed that Brian had a smile on his face. He did. It was so comforting to see a smile after going so long without one. I knew he was finally at home and no longer suffering, he had battled far too long.
God needed another angel and he got the best with my little guy Brian. God Bless, Sandra
