Cecilia's Story
Written by Cecilia's mom in June 2007

Ceci was born with spina bifida levels L3-L4, hydrocephulus, arnold chiari type ll, kidney and bladder reflux and other problems, a dislocated and turned in left knee, a dislocated left hip, clubfeet, a vsd heart conditon, and paraysis from about her calves down and in other spots on her legs. Her vsd closed up a few months later and she hasnt had any problems with her heart since and her left knee and club feet were repaired with multiple leg casts. Also Ceci's left hip was dislocated and had surgery done on it last January and she was in a body cast close to six months and now her left hip is doing fine. Ceci started having more issues with her right hip this year so she had another surgery and spent about 4 months in another body cast. She was only out of the body cast for about a week when she became very sick and was in alot of pain. We took her to our closest childrens hopsital to figure out what was going on. After a few days of testing we found out that Ceci had 5 breaks in her legs. They put her back in another body cast and told me that Ceci has severly thin and brittle legs. From being in so many casts most of her life it thinned out her bones. So Ceci spent another 5 weeks in a cast and just recently got out of it about 2 weeks ago. Well, after only a week and a day of being out of that body cast Ceci became ill again. Once again we were back at the dr's getting x-rays and they found another break in her left leg. So now she has a long leg cast on that leg. Well then 2 days ago I took her in for a routine check and the dr found another break in her right leg. So now Ceci has two long leg casts on. My little girl is only 2 and has had 9 major surgeries, some minor ones, numerous hospital visits and dr appts and hospital stays. She has been through so much but she is just the happiest little girl.

SHES MY HERO : )
