Gabrielle C.'s Story
written by mom Peg

Gabrielle was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus as an infant.  At that time she was followed by Dr. Dias at Hershey Medical Center in case she had to be shunted.  She was discharged from his care in January of 2005.

In November 2005 she fell and hit her head.  No concussion but the next day started walking strange.  The following Thursday she had a CT scan and then MRI on Friday.  It was then found that she had a 4cm tumor on her cerebellum blocking her 4th ventricle.  She had a cranionotomy the following Tuesday.  She did well with surgery however it was a malignant Medullablastoma tumor.

Two weeks after surgery she started her first cycle of five chemo sessions.  She was so sick!  We were in the hospital for Christmas of 2005.  We went home on the 29th of December after a 23 day stay.

In the beginning of January 2006 she started her oral chemo at home after we received instructions on how to administer through her nasal/gastro tube (up nose and down into stomach).
Gabrielle is now getting ready for a stem cell transplant (updated May 2006).
