Written July 10, 2006

I wanted to thank all the wonderful people around the country and the world that took the time to make this quilt for me.  It's nice to know that there are people that do things for others that they don't know...just because they can!  You are all very special.  Thank you again!  Joe

Thanks from me too!!!  I have attached a copy of the pictures we took of Joe with his quilt!  Have a great day!

With love and prayers,
Andy G.

Joe G.'s Story
written by mom Tammy

Joe is a 15 year old young man who was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma in October of 2002.  He was having pains in his left leg during the summer.  We thought it was just growing pains, or that he had pulled a muscle rollerblading.  It didn't seem to be a constant pain, but in September we took him to the pediatrician.  She suggested that we see a bone doc.  Took him for xrays and they sent us to a bone tumor specialist.  The specialist ran some additional tests and did a biopsy and thus the diagnosis.  Joe also had lesions that had metastisized to his lungs.  He had 14 rounds of chemotherapy, 10 rounds of radiation to his lungs and surgery that removed half of his pelvis.  On September 23, 2003, Joe was declared free of cancer....... until June 27, 2005 when an MRI of his spine showed that the cancer had relapsed and a tumor had grown in his spinal cord at the S1 vertebrae.  He is now undergoing radiation and chemotherapy and will have a stem cell transplant in the next month or two.  He is the strongest, most upbeat teenager I have ever met.  He is very grounded in his Catholic faith and has so many people praying for him.  Whatever God has planned for this young soul must be phenomenal!  He inspires me on a daily basis.
