Kaden V.'s Story
Written by Kaden's mom in March 2008

Twas just 5 nights before Christmas and not a creature was stirring...not even our little monkey Kaden. This is how the tale of Kaden's journey begins.

Wisked away in an ambulance on Friday December 21st, 2007 we instinctively knew Kaden needed attention. Three weeks previously we thought Kaden had the flu when his vomitting started. The doctors at his regular clinic said a nasty virus was going around and would probably last about 6 days.

After 1 week of illness we visited the clinic only to change his diet to exclude milk products. The docs suggested that Kaden might have a gastorial infection and they put him on Zantac to help stop the vomitting.

Fourteen days into his illness we took a family trip where Kaden seemed to be improving. We weaned him over the weekend and contributed his clingingness to this. When we returned home he got sick again.

Day seventeen came and went. At the doctors visit several blood and urine test where preformed all with normal results. We were stumped. A couple days later his mental state told us a tale we could not ignore. Not only was he vomitting more than before, Kaden would scream for mommy and daddy in the middle of the night as we held him. He appeared to not recognize us. When he walked around he had a drunken stagger about him and his strength to hold his own weight above the porcelin bowl had diminished. He would rest his head on the back of the toilet seat to throw up!

On December 21st the doctors at our clinic ambulanced him to Children's hospital. Shortly after, a CAT scan found a tumor 6x6x10cm in the back left corner of his head. The tumor was creating a great deal of pressure in his head causing his illness. After an MRI was taken, they put him on a ventilator and inserted a brain pressure monitor and sedated him heavily.

The specialist recommended immediate surgery to relieve the presuure. By 8am on the 22nd close friends and family sat with us as our little monkey boy underwent a 6+ hour procedure to remove this tumor.

A large part of the very fast growing tumor was removed for biopsy. And thats where our jouney of FAITH begins.

Thanks for reading Kadens story and for all your prayers and support. We believe God can do anything and are praying for a full recovery.
