The quilt arrived safely and it is absolutely gorgeous.  She loves it!  She snuggles up in the quilt every night.  I have attached a photo of her with her beautiful quilt.  We thank you, and all of the quilters from the bottom of our hearts.  Their talent and love is amazing.

Kaitlin G.'s Story
written by mom Carrie

Kaitlin was born, a normal and happy child.  She loves to dance, sing and cook!  In December 2004, she had a bad virus, or so we thought.  It didn't seem to go away, and every 2-3 weeks, she would have a low grade fever for a few hours and complain that she was tired.  She did appear pale to us, but she had always been fair skinned.  Finally, after 3 episodes of this, we took her to her pediatrician who immediately ran bloodwork.  By 4:30 that same day, we were told that our daughter most likely had acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

At diagnosis, she was hospitalized for over 2 weeks.  She underwent surgery to place a port, 2 bone marrow aspirate/biopsies, 2 lumbar punctures, and many other tests. She came home on IV antibiotics because she had a bacterial infection in her blood.  Then, at the end of her first month of treatment, we discovered that her port (indwelling catheter) had formed a clot and had to be removed.  She now takes subcutaneous injections 1-2 times daily in her abdomen along with the 1 - 10 pills she takes daily.   She is such a brave girl for a 3 1/2 year old.  She can take up to 3 pills on her own at one time!  On June 2, she will receive another port, and along with it new scars.  But, we pray that it makes the weekly to monthly blood draws and injections of chemo easier for her.
