A Thank-You from Kaylee's Family!
Written on September 19, 2007

She loves it so much and uses it every night.  Thank you so much for this special gift.  Kaylee is getting much sicker now and she is living each day to the fullest.  A few weeks ago the community gave her a prom that she would never get to have.  It was amazing.  I have included a picture for you.

Kaylee's Story
written by mom Sandra (in October 2006)

Kaylee is a grown up 10 year old that has been through more pain in her short life than most adults. However she still remains happy. Kaylee is the oldest daughter of Marty and Sandra and has two sisters, Kelly who is 9 and Kenedy who is 8. Kenedy also has cystic fibrosis. Kaylee was born with pneumonia and spent a week in the hospital. She remained sick off on and for four months. After being transfered to the University of Kentucky Childrens Hospital, at four months, she was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF).

At the beginning, Kaylee was only in the hospital twice a year, as time passed her hospital stays became more frequent. In October of 2004 Kaylee was evaluated and placed on the lung transplant list in St Louis, MO. Kaylee has had several surgergies in her young life. Some of which are sinus surgery, many broncs, 2 port a cath placements and a feeding tube placement. On August 4, 2005, Kaylee and I were relocated to St Louis Mo, to await a double lung transplant. Kaylee remained a spiritual and happy child even though her lungs keep her from doing a lot that she would like to do. Kaylee has now received her lung transplant. She was called on October 8, 2005 and the transplant was over on October 9, 2005.

Since transplant Kaylee has enjoyed living each breathe to the fullest. Kaylee is a newly baptized christian and an angel to those that love her. Kaylee's hobby's include riding the four wheeler, reading, work books and spending time with her friends and family. Since transplant she has added many new hobbies that she was unable to do before. Hre favorite now being swimming. She loves going to school and is in the 4th grade. She attends school at Hillsboro Elementary School. She is on the academic team and part of the STLP (student technology leadership program). She loves being a part of the youth group at Hillsboro Christian Church. She is also on a Bolwling League at Twin Pins Lanes in Flemingsburg. As you can tell Kaylee is very active now, something I prayed for to happen for a very long time, now our prayers have been answered.

Update (fall 2007):
Kaylee is now home in Kentucky, her new lungs were amazing however now she is rejecting quickly.
