Written May 15, 2006

All of us can't beleive how great it is, all of the wonderful squares that were crossed stitched and all of the hard work that went into it.  You all will continually be in our thoughts and and in our hearts for a long time to come.  Do me a favor tell everyone who was involved in making lizzie's quilt that it will be something we will never forget.

BEST REGARDS,

JODIE AND LIZZIE LOVES AND KISSES TOO.

Lizzie S.'s Story
written by mom Jodie

Lizzie was born on February 15, 2000, she was born naturally and weighed about 6 pounds 9 ounces.  There were no complications.  We believe Lizzie was born with this tumor but it wasn't detectable until the age of two.  The signs of illness were her stomach being hard as a rock and one morning, when I was changing her, I noticed a bulge on her right side and that told me something was wrong.  I called her pediatrician right away and we were admitted to the hospital in Fairfax.  Lizzie was given a biopsy of the tumor so they could tell what type of tumor it was so they would know how to treat it and shrink it with chemo and other drugs.  It was unsuccessful so they decided to take the tumor out along with her right kidney.  Lizzie went through a lot from that time, she spent most of that time flat on her back because her body went through a lot of stress.  After everything was said and done she finally got to come home but has been admitted to the hospital for one thing or another.  From the time she was diagnosed until today she has had 21 surgeries.  This includes having her tumor taken out and all of the central lines that were put in and taken out.  At one point we didn't think she was going to make it but our faith helped out a lot.  Lizzie has been in remission for about three years and has been thriving as a normal 5 year old and just glad to have our daughter back.
