Matti C.'s Story

Matti was born fairly healthy with no major problems.  She began getting sick around 6 months of age and would pretty much go into a low Hypoglycemic state.  We would rush her to the hospital barely conscious and would stay ten days and then get a release with a "just a virus" diagnosis.  We went through five episodes like this.

Finally after our last time in the hospital blood was taken and sent to the mayo...Then we received the scary news that Matti had a rare and serious metabolic disorder called MCAD.

We later found out that children who are undiagnosed usually die after their first or second episode.  Matti by the Grace of God lived through five.

Matti is on a very low Fat diet and is on a medication to keep her body balanced.

When she gets into any type of illness she must be admitted to the hospital for IV stabilization since she can't go any length of time without food.

She continues to have issues with growth and developmental problems and is currently getting an MRI.
