Samantha's Story
written by mom Lisa

On April 3, 2006, one week after the discovery of a six inch tumor on her kidney, 17-year-old Samantha Crowell was diagnosed with Wilms' Tumor - a kidney cancer that is normally found in younger children. Samantha is at Stage IV with metastasis to the lung, liver and diaphragm.

Sam's family had taken her to the doctor several times due to weight loss and slight anemia during the past year. She recently started to complain of side aches which led the doctors to schedule an ultrasound and that is how the tumor was found. She has started Chemotherapy and will have surgery to remove the kidney and then radiation.
