I'm sorry that it took me so long to write you and thank you! We had a stressfull weekend.  Our MRI last Friday showed that Stacia's tumor grew 50% and we were not able to do chemo treatment.  Stacia is not doing good at all.  We contacted hospice yesterday.  Stacia loves her blanket, I told her it was made by people all over the world.  I read all the different names and locations to her and she was very impressed.  We wanna thank all the stitchers so much, the blanket it beautifull!!!  I'm sending a picture of Stacia!!!

Stacia D.'s Story
written by mom Sandy

Stacia was born November 4, 1989 in South Bend, IN.  She grew up to be just a regular tennager, loves singing and was a cheerleader in school.

In January 2005 after numbness and weakness on the left side of her body, she was diagnosed with an anaplastic ganglioglioma, Grade 3 at the age of 15.

She underwent 6 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy but it didn't seem to stop the tumor from growing.  The doctors wanted to take it out, and scheduled an operation in May.  To our surprise when we got to the hospital and they did a MRI, the tumor was smaller so they sent us back home.  Her MRI's stayed stable until August.  Then the tumor started to grow again and we had an operation in September, where they removed 80% of the tumor.

By January the tumor grew back again, this time in her brainstem, impossible to remove.  In February 2006 we started a new chemo, but Stacia has so many side effects that the doctor is not sure if we can continue with the treatment.

This morning at 9:40am Stacia left us and met her angels in heaven. Stacia died at home in the arms of her daddy. We just want to say Thank You to everyone that was there for us. There is no need to worry about her anymore, she is now at peace with her creator and is watching us from above with a big SMILE saying " I MADE IT". You know she would not want you to mourn her death but to celebrate her life because all of you who knew her knows that she is celebrating her arrival. Always remember, Stacia smiled till the end and left with a smile!
