William L.'s Story
written by mom Robin

William was born on August 5th 1992 and weighed in at 9 lbs 6 oz and was 21 1/2 long...a BIG boy. William was such a good baby and a great sleeper. We put Will into preschool at age 3 and 4 and he did wonderful so off to kindergarden he went as a young 5 year old.

We soon figured out he loved to throw baseballs and we signed him up for T-Ball, he never had to hit off the Tee, he was a natural. William played baseball every year from then on.  Will loved the pitching and soon became a great pitcher and by the time he was 11 yrs old he had teams asking for him to play.  Now he is 13 and really loves to play, he has had teams from out of the area ask him to come play on their teams.

We went to Vegas the end of October 2005 for a baseball tournament and this is where William got sick with a severe stomach ache.  We took him to the hospital and after doing an xray, cat scan, ultra sound and then an MRI we were told he had a mass on his left kidney.  We were released from that hospital the next day and flew him home to Seattle Wa. and straight to our Children's Hospital where surgery was performed on November 7th 2005 to remove the left kidney and tumor. The tumor was diagnosed as a Wilms tumor stage 1 favorable histology.  We are now doing the chemo therapy and William has now lost his hair.  We are very positive about this having a good outcome.  This is one of the hardest paths we have had to travel. William still has his wonderful sense of humor and that is what gets us through each day.
